Danish trio Scarlet Pleasure have perfected an innovative fusion of laid-back synth-pop and downtempo R&B. On their 2016 album, Youth is Wasted on the Young, they juxtapose languid vocals with crisp, stop-start beats. Constantly engaging with new sounds, they draw on '80s pop influences with jazzy synths and electronic percussion and expertly pair Indian-inspired guitars with a clean, stripped-back beat.
