Hopeton Lindo's music has always been better-known than the man himself. His own recording career dates back to the late '70s, when his distinctive voice was first heard on the underground anthem “Black History”, produced by the legendary Mikey Dread; his solo career peaked commercially in 1987 with the minor worldwide hit “Territory”. But along the way, Lindo has built a mighty reputation writing mega-hits for other Jamaican reggae stars, including “Telephone Love” for JC Lodge and “Mr. Loverman” by Shabba Ranks. As for his own recordings, they represent reggae at its very best.
