Arriving on the scene in the late ‘90s, Ramble Jon Krohn (a.k.a. RJD2) is a master of hip-hop instrumentalism who employs a vibrant cut-and-paste style of sampling to mix soul and funk with rap beats. His career exploded after signing to EL-P's Definitive Jux, the label that would put out his 2002 debut, Deadringer. Now a well-regarded remixer, producer and serial collaborator, he has worked with genre luminaries such as Aesop Rock, Massive Attack and Nightmares on Wax. RJD2's patchwork audio recontextualisation is key to his compelling and complex sonic vision.
