Ribeirão Preto six-piece Sambô make samba, but not as we know it. By fusing the Brazilian dance with luxurious rock, pop and soul textures, the group have carved out a dedicated fan base for their ultra-smooth genre collisions since forming in 2006. Addictive tracks like their covers of Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” and Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie” prove that this acclaim is richly deserved. Elsewhere, whether bringing a Brazilian, brass-laden flavour to the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” or turning Alicia Keys’ “Girl On Fire” into a fiery South American rock anthem, Sambô’s melodic charm never wavers.
