Though Behemoth has steadily evolved from black metal to death metal over a double-decade recording career, Poland's most uncompromisingly brutal band has done so with enviable elegance and majesty. While the lyrics explore obscure aspects of paganism and Satanism, the band's dense attack might come seasoned by a sitar here or a synthesiser there—anything to make the horror drama more ominous.
