Gummy got her start with urban music-oriented label YG Entertainment, just as the R&B sound started taking off in South Korea. She's known for her powerful, deep voice and passionate delivery, both of which make her especially suited for epic, sweeping ballads. But her love of R&B has never gone away, and she's more recently explored other genres, like soul, rock and blues, that come from the same roots.
