Tokyo band WONK describe themselves as an experimental soul band. The quartet deftly combine elements of funk, hip-hop and jazz to create a futuristic yet nostalgic cosmic sound that’s never short on liquid grooves and body-moving beats. They’ve released a slew of albums and singles since 2016 under their own label Epistroph, garnering critical acclaim for their genre-traversing composition. With these cosmopolitan dance cuts and late-night soul jams in their catalogue, it’s not hard to see why.
