For all their glam swagger and classic rock pomp, Kasabian are a groundbreaking modern group. Songwriter Serge Pizzorno has a keen ear for musical collage, inspired by his love of mind-expanding hip-hop, creating a mighty racket around the fulcrum of Tom Meighan's half-rapped, unvarnished growl. Their trademark is a layering of monolithic guitar riffs and burbling synths over bluesy shuffle beats or bass-heavy funk, throwing in psychedelic production touches and a few vocal chants straight off the football terraces for good measure.
