The debut studio album from T3r Elemento disguises gritty Mexican folk with sugary Latin pop. Or, perhaps, vice versa. Favouring the intricate guitars of sierreño, this youthful Los Angeles/Las Vegas crew make deceptively sweet tunes, balancing the serious lyrics of corridos like “La Chica Nice” and “Rafa Caro” with can't-get-them-out-of-your-head hooks. While still keeping to their throwback acoustic sound, they also venture beyond the borders of música mexicana. “Nos Pertenecemos” and “We Belong Together” put a modern spin on the street-corner harmonising of classic ’60s soul.
