Who could have guessed what he'd turn out to be?
No worth to his name
Merely a farm boy who'd chosen to pray
I long to feel and shout just like the rest
To worship as they do
Too many voices claiming truth
But I can't find
The path that leads to you
Lord, can I know?
Lord, can I see?
Through confusion and darkness
Where I'm supposed to be
Am I alone in my belief?
That God authors peace and gladness
And not this madness
Of crude opinions
So prompted to read
He turned to James who said faith was the key
If it's wisdom you need
Then ask of God, and you'll surely receive
If there's a way
Then I must bear my heart
But just as I did speak
A hidden power left me silent
Binding me
"God Almighty, hear my plea"
Lord, can I know?
Lord, can I see?
Through confusion and darkness
Where I'm supposed to be
Where can I find eternity?
My faults leave me so unworthy
I'm left in mourning
I need your mercy
A pillar of light shined over me
Its brightness beyond all I had seen
The heavens opened up
Descending gradually
Two beings did speak
My child, I know
Dear child, I see
But don't fear
You're exactly where you need to be
All your sins are forgiven thee
When I had regained my senses
I had to ask them
Among contention, who should I believe in?
My church, dear child, must be reconciled
Their hearts have strayed so far
