So here we go again I put your bottles in the trash can While you sleep them off in bed Dreaming of ways To cover your mistakes Trying to find out Just who it was you blamed for everything But I feel hopeful today Might be that poem that you wrote That you forgot to throw away I shouldn't have to reread it today But I just don't wanna forget the things you say The newspaper arrives Pick up the keys under the mat The ones you couldn't find last night When we got home And you just had to have one more Then you woke me up 'round five, desperate to make love And love is war Yet I feel hopeful today Might be the way you cling to life 'Cause it's a passing thing And when you're gone then all the Gods are gonna cry 'Cause they don't wanna forget your burning light And I've seen this before You wake up around noon, then you head towards the door And say you're sorry for everything you did I say thank you, but I don't care anymore 'Cause I feel, I feel hopeful today Might be the way you say goodbye Like you don't wanna go And I don't have to, but I read it once again True love has found me in the end
