I've been comin here for 50 years
Just a box of tackle and a white pale
The simple pleasure of a clear mind
The smell in the air and a tug on the line
I pray to God the place will never change
If I had the money it would be mine
Cuz the only thing you'll ever lose here
Is a big ole fish and a little time
My Daddy woke me at the crack of dawn
He said the fish were jumpin on his ride home
He'd worked all night, tired as a stone
It was the First time he brought me here alone
He got a big one on and let me reel
He told me, let it swim a little get the feel
Well I wish I knew then what I know now
He was showing me something that he didn't know how to say
Something that don't come around ev'ry day
even some good men can't seem to say
Somethin that pales in the tellin
And seeps right into your soul
Something the blind man's able to see
Out in the desert, in the middle of the sea
Something that makes you wanna go to a place only you would know
fishin hole
A picnic blanket and a glass of wine
A pretty woman on a summer night
She had a way of lookin through my eyes
I'd give anything to see that smile
At times I couldn't find a thing to say
She said she wouldn't have it any other way
Well I hope she knew then what I know now
I was showing her something that I didn't know how to say
I didn't always come here all alone
I didn't always think of it as home
I didn't always know just what I had
In this old spot
I didn't always know that it would end
Just one more time comin 'round that bend
Under the old red oak where the path leads into the shoal
Fishing hole
I've been coming here for 50 Years
Just a box of tackle and a white pale
The kids all moved away the wife is gone
It's Just the, Mornin paper and a little mail
I pray the God the place will never change
If I had the money it would be mine
But the only thing you'll ever lose here
Is all that matters and a lot of time
everything that matters and a lot of time
