Lyrics
The nights are dark, but sleep is infrequent
Kids long asleep, always a pleasant achievement
And although we went to bed, together
I find myself in that descent they will always prevent
The rest my body craves, the feeling that I'm safe
But still I cannot sleep sometimes and it makes me feel insane
And so quietly I roam, so not to wake my loves
I have safety and home, but my broken brain is stuck just where is was
When I go on night patrol
I see you sleeping there
Cuddled up in your underwear
Nothing can compare
I do declare!
Hang up my boots, throw my clothes up on the chair
My night patrol is over, any time that you are near
But I've developed a fear, of simply letting sleep take me thru the night
When everyone else rests their bodies and minds, mine starts to begin the fight
It's not right.
So quietly I roam, so as to somehow placate my faulting mind
But in the end, I have to get the timing and situation right just to unwind
When I go on night patrol
I see you sleeping there
Cuddled up in your underwear
Nothing can compare
I do declare!
Hang up my boots, throw my clothes up on the chair
My night patrol is finally over, any time that you are near
