I've had crazy nervous armpits Since the formal dance was formally announced Having flashbacks to the second grade My meltdown at the Harvest party Screaming in the bouncy castle Each time it bounced There's an "I don't know" sensation deep in my stomach Like any moment My breakfast could rise A bit of vertigo A floaty fluttery feeling inside Something like butterflies When you ask someone How would you know that you wanna go to the dance with them? And, you just go up to them? And say what? I'd say hi or how's it going Give a compliment about the way they look Like, "Cool shirt, my dad has one like that!" Ask them if they're having fun What do they do in their spare time Or you could talk about the weather Or football Or a book Maybe the thing you like Is something someone else likes Like me I'm into other places Me too Like where? Like the fourth Or the fifth Dimension Any dimension Maybe I could go to the dance with you Thanks, but no thanks That's okay I'm just not ready to settle down yet Last week we practiced counting on the beat Like this One, two, three, four Overlapping Good, remember your internal clock One, two three, four One, two, three, four Now, here's a ball Dancing requires some coordination So, we're going to practice throwing the ball On the beat I don't like throwing balls I don't like finding the beat But if it's hard Then it's worth doing it, right?
