There is something solemn about standing at the grave And certainly, added perspective when you see your name Everything you've said and done in life reduced to stone A measure of a man's not worth but - "did he go alone?" You never know when it's your time. Buried with your paradigms Will you be sold for all you took? Rose pedals trampled underfoot As people walk away it rains. No one's left to mourn your name A final act, they close the door, a resting place forevermore There is something beautiful about standing at the ledge Not knowing if you'll turn and run or get pushed over the edge If you can't appreciate those moments in your life Then I think it's safe to say that you've already died You don't know what's in the plans The hourglass now drained of sand A clarity of what's at stake When life is something that you fake So, gaze upon the sky and think Of chapters blank or filled with ink Forever written, stain the page A legacy that you have made So please don't forget me when I'm gone So please don't forget me when I'm gone Underappreciated minutes turn to years And suddenly all that you fear has come to be Mistakes will take their toll and your regrets won't turn to gold Just shed the blindfold now and finally see what it takes to be free Please don't forget me when I'm gone (When we all return to the earth, a reminder of what we were) So please don't forget me when I'm gone (As forms will break and fade, a part of me will always stay behind)
