Party Trick

i got one shoe on my feet i told my friends i'd go to the parade but waited far too long to leave i met a boy last week and then i told him that i liked him he said that was pretty bold of me isn't it isn't it the way things always go for me honesty gets misconstrued and met with some weird apathy and now i'm sitting on the couch with one foot stuck in my mouth and the rest of me is stuck inside in my head and i'm just trying to figure out the real way things all went down and not the way i wanted it instead i can't comprehend that when it happens in the movies all the actors get a second chance and the audience all cheers but in real life when you show your cards what you thought was magic disappears now isn't it isn't it exactly what has happened here? transparency got confused viewed like some narcissistic party trick but no one's even watching it and now i'm sitting on my couch with one foot stuck in my mouth and the rest of me is stuck inside in my head and i'm just trying to figure out the real way things all went down and not the way i wanted it instead instead i wrote a letter on a plane it said "i miss you" and "what's your middle name?" i tore it up and threw it away i threw it away and i took a ferry the very next day to a small island off the coast of L.A. and everyone there knew me by my fake name by my fake name (i don't know you but i'd like to) (i don't know you but i'd like to) 'cause i don't do too much talking anymore that doesn't lead to me saying sorry or getting ignored and heaven knows i'm getting pretty bored i'm getting pretty bored and i don't have many friends anymore who don't seem to view me like some pawn on chess board heaven knows i'm getting pretty bored i'm getting pretty bored and i'm sitting on my couch with one foot stuck in my mouth and the rest of me is stuck inside in my head and i'm just trying to figure out the real way things all went down and not the way i wanted it instead
