Do This In Remembrance

On the night he was betrayed Jesus lifted the bread and gave thanks For he is the bread of heaven come down To fill all hearts who hunger Remember now, the words He spoke that night Oh, how I've longed to Eat this Passover with you A night unlike all other nights And though the moments Here I have with you are few His hand will guide you through the night And the next time I lift this cup I will drink it again anew In the kingdom of God So he blessed and shared the cup As a covenant cut in God's own blood And in this we will his death proclaim His death and resurrection So remember now, the Words he spoke that night Oh, how I've longed to Eat this Passover with you To bow and wash your feet instead And though you've yet to Grasp what I have done for you I know the next time we break this bread We'll share again at table spread In the kingdom of God Do this in remembrance (Of Christ who died for us) Do this in remembrance (His body on the cross) Do this in remembrance (So powerless our sin) Do this in remembrance For Jesus lives again! Oh, how I've longed to Be this Passover for you Your priest, your lamb, your shepherd-king Our banquet shared through Ages past and those to come A meal of hope and memory For the day is drawing near Even as we gather here In the kingdom of God
