Roads and trenches seeping life
Earthly vapors numb my mind
Smells of moist, smells of clay
Preserving death, absent decay

Hear those living, otters, mice
Steps and hearts, sounds so light
Birds then bugs and worms in peat
Dancing stomping down their feet

Buried in peat
Feel those roots of grasses
Pushing in my skull
Growing in and out of me
Using me to thrive
So alone in my chambers vast
Of ground, so tight, held fast
No way to move, even thoughts
Constricted by dust, held fast
Fields and meadows cover me
Growing grasses, lichen, moss
New seed they toss to grow anew
What dies then adds on top of my doom
