Lyrics

He was looking back on his life And he wrote this Here's the thing Life is an endless series of trainwrecks With only brief commercial breaks of happiness This, had been the ultimate commercial break Then it was time to return To our regularly scheduled program He looked up, nauseous and cold The leaves on trees were slowly starting to show But all he saw was their downfall in the fall When they'd blow away, and they'd all rot under snow Cause he was bitter in the spring And he was cold in the summer November arrived, he'd fall off he would plummet And in the winter he was gone, often a bummer, right? It never crossed his mind that he needed himself by his side He desperately needed this help, a long time He seeked help before But never comprehended the importance of his own support To feel more alive He never took a deep breath When the panic was building inside of him He'd feel it, get stuck, wanting to get out of it Of course the moon is gone if you only see that side of it Of course the world is dark if you ignore the brighter things Is this what we want? It dawned on him as the nature humbled him A little piece of hope stumbled in Always found himself caught, standing still or walking slow But not getting anywhere he wants, it's time to stop Now he's running quick cause he don't want none of it Besides figuring out what the knot inside his stomach is Cause we can waste money, we can waste some time But can we really afford to waste our lives? He looked down, eyes full of doubt What he saw was beautiful But he was hiding a frown Couldn't see the beauty of the life all around He thought he was stuck But if anything he was free now The mind was so loud, playing tricks on him all the time He was quite sick of it, openly Your glass might be half empty Or even half full hopefully But his glass was empty inside, cause so was he He looked around, the spring breeze was nice But he hadn't learned to practice the art of feeling alright Some of us are born with an enemy inside of us It's hard, cause then you look for the remedy outside of you Naturally his surroundings never helped him When his gaze came from a place of inner resentment A safe space isn't safe if it ain't yours How could he look up, and not think the world was against him?
