Is this what we want? This can't possibly continue to go on Peel by peel you take away the layers of the onion To get it's own fundamental kernel of truth I don't think that's the way it works Ignorance That's what was missing Ignorance has a lot of bad connotations And I clearly don't mean any of those I don't mean stupidity I don't mean a callow indifference to fact Or reason, or data The ignorant are clearly unenlightened Unaware, uninformed I mean a different kind of ignorance Thoroughly conscious ignorance Cause he believes that he knows Next week, he looks back to see that it wasn't so Proving himself wrong, while time is ticking too slow But also way too fast for him to keep up the hope You feel good but you have bad habits He's got good habits, cause he don't feel fantastic Maybe it's cause he doesn't understand the past Or just because he doesn't really stand understanding it Standing in the drizzling rain He tries to get better So instead of only living vein He's living this day for tomorrow Cause he knows inside himself that life is well Unless you give it away Even though temptations come in hard When it's later in the day The sensations of it all Hits you straight up in the face His patience wearing off He tries his best to make it through it all You were blind now you see You were lost now you're free So tell'em Tell'em, tell'em And show them what you can be He believes that he knows things Even after all these realizations, he's hoping That he isn't fully blind But every time he tries to provoke it He's proven wrong and doesn't even see just why it's hopeless What point is there in knowledge? When you keep realizing you knew nothing last year, in the darkness What point is there in using your eyes? When you keep realizing Just a week ago you were completely fucking blind Knowing a lot of stuff is not the point Knowing a lot of stuff is there to help you get To more ignorance So knowledge is a big subject But I would say ignorance Is a bigger one Is this what we want?
